7 Reasons, No Actual Ways To View Art Paintings!

March 29

While there are all kinds of ways to appreciate, engage and view art and art paintings, we live in a throw-a-way society and culture that has no time for anything that isn’t self serving. Unfortunately most people don’t realize all the benefits of feeding ones heart, traveling one’s mind and reminding one of positive experiences; an oasis for actual physical and mental healing, which would serve well this self absorbed society.

Here are 7 actual ways that would benefit one in their viewing or looking at a painting. Before these reasons, they should all be tempered by a clear understanding that the process should contain four key ingredients. Those are as follows: some understanding of art; some appreciation for art; a willingness to participate in the process and fourth that the process may take up some of their time as this is not a “glance and go happening”, but a process of getting to know and understand the work.

Here are the Ways To View:
1. First one must clear one’s mind of any conflicting conscious distractions and view the complete work.

2. Secondly view the work at best possible eye level positioned about between 5 and 7 feet away from the painting. In some cases this would be similar to looking at online paintings on your computer.

3. Thirdly move closer to the work, even close enough to carefully observe the technique, the color, the strokes, the process, the shadows and close enough to get some personal feedback on the things that were rolling around in your head when you were 5 feet away. You may or may not get the complete understanding as often it is hard to portray this position over the internet without actual close ups. I know as an artist I am adding more close up views to allow this to happen on the web.

4. The third physical position and next on our list is the away view where the painting is observed at a distance where it will demonstrate a different look and feeling than it did in any other position. Sometimes this affect can be achieved by standing and backing away from your computer scene and then observing the work.

5. Now I know people have different ways and different ideas of what physical position should be first, second, or third; and I believe, you find what suits you best . After you have done the first five stand in your favorite position and contemplate all you have seen and all you have taken in, reviewing the messages, your understanding, your likes and your dislikes and make mental notes in your head or better still on paper.

6. Sixth review the painting in any position you want and start to ask yourself, “What is the message that the artist wants me to hear? What is he or she going through? What are they conveying to me, my life, society, culture, etc.? What is it that they are giving me to impact my life and my time? Am I being engaged by this work? Make sure you write them all down

7. Lastly, clear all your new distractions and take a fresh view a clear view and open your heart to the work. I believe you’ll be quite surprised.

This process is something that you will have to give some time to, but believe me it will be far more rewarding than being bombarded by over 3000 commercials a day and the negative news that permeate the informational swamps in which we are participating.

Time to get engaged! May you find a great painting or may my paint-tings find you!

Five Reasons or Ways to find and Recognize Extraordinary Paintings!

    March 22

Paintings that “capture the heart’s emotions” are extraordinary paintings and they take a special understanding to acquire them. They are paintings that evoke psychological and emotional mindsets. Finding them is akin to finding a soul-mate. Here are some things that will help you with that quest.

First , you should understand that it takes time and you have to commit to doing it. The rewards of a painting that captures your heart’s emotions far outweigh the purchase or acquisition of any photograph, sculpture, image, print or other painting.

Second, you have to look, see, ponder, reflect and engage paintings in order to find that certain painting that will meet your requirements. You should understand that finding a soul mate maybe instantaneous or may take time. You never know but have to make the effort to gain the reward. Sitting around waiting for the dating service to call will never lead to happiness.

Thirdly, you have to understand love. Love is first and foremost a choice. You choose to be in love or you choose to be out of love. In addition, and as important is the fact that love doesn’t follow feelings; feelings follow love. If you choose to love someone then the feelings will develop and foster. If you choose not to love that person then the feeling will dissipate. The same is true when choosing a painting.

Fourthly, there must be a connection. There has to be something that you see that makes that initial engagement a spark that ignites your thought process. There must be a situation or relationship that puts you in the position to choose to love.

Fifth and finally, there is the clear and focused understanding that there is a reward and a return on your actions. In the case of finding a painting that captures your emotion, the understanding is that you will grow in them and you will grow through them. In addition, they will provide you with priceless experiences of memory recall, positive thoughts, and encouraging mindsets that will help you both physically and emotionally all of your life.

So go, look, find and the doors will be opened to you. You’ll even find that the risk isn’t a risk at all; but an enjoyable journey in and of itself which will provide you with the impetuous to find painting number two and three or more. Enjoy!

7 – No, 5 Reasons to Love Photorealism!

    March 15

The advent of digital photography has revolutionized the world of the photographer as well as the viewer. But the world and the creative levels of the artist has taken photorealism to a new level. Photorealism means making a painting out of a photo.

The scope of this treatment, hyperrealism, realism art, is vast and varied. For centuries many artists follow the popular “en plein air” painting process or discipline where they truck out to the scene they once found. Braving all elements they paint frantically to capture the light and the picture that lays before them, before it is gone completely. In this process there are so many things changing so rapidly that it is like living on a tight rope. It is a process that is extremely rewarding and sometimes extremely frustrating.

Then comes along the digital camera and the digital world where an artist can visit that same beautiful location and capture that single moment that he or she so wants to paint.

One: Taking that digital image and using it as a reference or an actual basis for the painting, the creative genius of the artist can take capture “the moment” and transpose it into something even greater than it was in its original form.

Two: The artist may find that the image that he or she has is wonderful in its own state only adding or subtracting minimal effects to enhance or change it slightly.

Third: This discipline gives the modern artist the ability to create more and produce at new stages of his or her development which opens new worlds of creative opportunity to their minds and genius.

Fourth: Culture and society benefit by viewing these new creations on elegance of timeless canvas.

Fifth: Everyone wins in this opportunity and this execution of the painting process. People can find new works that “capture their hearts emotions”. Artists can work on a single moment basis as well as open up new doors and new worlds of artistic development to create these art-paintings.

The beauty, the realty and the opportunity of this work is amazing and we stand at only its threshold of development. May you find great paintings or may great paint-tings find you!
